(POSTAL SCRIPT TO A POSTAL CARRIER ON HER ROUTE) Hello, my name is Mike and I am the representative in this area for the Disability Insurance Plan for Postal Workers, paid for through PostalEase / LiteBlue on payroll deduction. As you are aware, as a Postal Worker in California, you do not get State Disability Insurance like your friends and family working in the Private Sector. Have you seen these benefits before today? (showing the postal worker the menu of benefits) Also may I ask how many sick days do you believe you have left at this point in the year? (wait for answer and be prepared to convert “hours” to “days”) I realize you are busy now delivering the mail, and may not have time now to review the income protection plan, but I could text you information about the plan this evening. (Enter their mobile phone number in your phone and text them while you are together so make sure they gave you a good phone number, and that they see your caller ID # , so that when you call them later tonight, they know it's you and are more likely to answer: also you can text them as well; this way you know you can text them and they will read your text. )
POSTAL GATEKEEPER (MANAGER in the Station)
My name is Mike , and I am with Colonial Life. I am the servicing agent for your station. We provide Voluntary insurance Plans through the LiteBlue/PostalEase payroll deduction system for Postal Workers. This menu shows the benefits we offer (showing the postal manager the menu of benefits) . What we have done at other stations is to come in on a Saturday morning before the carriers go out on their mail routes, and explain the benefits available. Do you think that might work here at this station? (If postal manager says “yes” schedule the date; if postal manager says “No” then see if you can leave flyers with the postal manager to “leave in break room” ).
(TO KAISER EMPLOYEES IN THE LUNCHROOM) I apologize for interrupting your lunch. My name is Mike with Colonial Life and I am waiting for a client to come down so I can assist her with a claim. We offer these plans to Kaiser employees, including a Disability Plan that protects Kaiser employees from the loss of income that a disability can cause. . If you have any questions about this flier, let me know. (Then go back to where you were sitting. )
(FEDERAL EMPLOYEES GROUP LIFE INSURANCE PLAN ) As a Postal Worker, on your first day of employment you receive Life Insurance coverage that is equal to your starting annual salary. For example if your starting pay was $40,000 a year, you would have , at no cost to you, $40,000 life policy. You can also “buy up” and increase the coverage; usually the increase is two (2) times your base coverage; for example you have the free $ 40,000 coverage (assuming your starting pay was $40,000 a year) and you double that coverage to $80,000 (2 times your salary) and you pay a premium on your paycheck for that . The deduction on your check has the code next to it of FEGLI , which stands for Federal Employees Group Life Insurance. Do you have a deduction on your check with the letters FEGLI next to it because if you do , then you probably doubled the death benefit. If not, then you would have the free one time salary death benefit only . Also when you retire or leave the Post Office, the plan is portable except the conversion rates are very high so most employees leaving the Post Office can’t afford to keep the plan, and appreciate it if we give you a quote for Colonials Guaranteed Issue Whole Life Policy . The premiums never increase and you build cash value and the plan is fully portable meaning you can take it with you when you leave the Post Office for retirement or leaving the Post Office for another position.
